Shaker Dressing Table

A Shaker style dressing table, complete with stool and mirror to compliment.

Heavily adapted from a design provided by the client, and to fit againt a narrow section of wall.

The Shakers are a religious community in America established in the late 1700s. They are well known for their furniture produced in the 1800s, which was well made, with clean simple lines, with easily accessible materials (they often used Cherry). They believed that indulgence was unecessary and therefore the simplier the design, the better - but with this simplicity came the most natural form of elegance.

I look towards the Shakers design and skill when designing my own furniture.

This dressing table is made from Maple and Poplar, and painted to acheive the desired aesthetic.
